  • Monitored energy use: has Skelton met its targets? by Matthew Hill
  • An Open discussion on Lessons for future designs
  • A summing up by guest speaker Hilary Benn M.P.
  • Finally Tours of the building and grounds
 
The Conclusions drawn were as follows:
 
Skelton Grange uses 89% less energy per square meter than is required as ‘Good Practice’.
 
Carbon output of the centre is 76% lower than that of an equivalent ‘Good Practice’ building

LEDA puts the light on Green Issues at Cooperatives Exhibition in Leeds Shopping Centre

Architect director Jonathan Lindh took part in an exhibition organised by Leeds Cooperative Society to highlight the innovative range of services provided by co-operatives in the city.

  Eastern Promise
  The follow up series of programmes about regeneration in East Leeds will start broadcasting on 12th June on the East Leeds FM (ELFM) community radio station.
 

The programmes all broadcast between 4 and 5 pm on 107.2 FM were :

  • Mon. 12th June Previously on Eastern Promise - Looking back at the issues and from the first round of programmes. What were the Issues? What is EASEL? Where has it got to now?

  • Tues. 13th June Everyday Sustainability - What is Sustainability to you? Looking at the subject from a personal everyday perspective to the 1.2 billion investment level.

  • Monday 19th June Designing Better Places - Looking at Lincoln green and the surrounding area investigating what makes a Safe Place? Roads, traffic, people, buildings - what are the

  • Mon. 12th June Previously on Eastern Promise - Looking back at the issues and from the first round of programmes. What were the Issues? What is EASEL? Where has it got to now? threats and opportunities. What has been achieved in other areas?

  • Tues. 20th June EASEL Does it - Where have the plans got to? The latest on what 's happening with the big plans and an in depth look at previous regeneration successes in Halton Moor.

  LEDA Architect Director Jonathan Lindh is involved with a unique community radio programme that is looking into the new plans for regenerating East and South East Leeds (known as EASEL).
 
  Jonathan is working with Adrian Sinclair , Creative Director of Heads Together Productions and local resident and architect Edward Walker on a series of five programmes examining the vision underlying the area historically and that informing the current proposals.

Local people will be expressing their hopes and fears as well as representatives from the council responsible for delivering the plans. The series is called "Eastern Promise" and aims to positively inform the consultation process, encouraging discussion and debate as well as recognising the present strengths and successes within the area. Broadcasting will be daily from Monday 28th November to Friday 2nd December from 4-5 pm."
