Completion: Spring 2005

HEADLINES: This new visitor centre is set on a peninsular jutting into the lake at the nature reserve in Attenborough, and is in a haven for birdwatchers. LEDA worked with the architects from sketch design stage to provide a sustainable design solution for the building.

Environmental Design Features:

A heat-pump takes low-grade heat from the lake for use in the underfloor heating and hot-water systems. Evacuated tube solar panels provide additional heat for the buildings hot-water supply.

Photovoltaic panels, which form part of the roof structure, contribute to electricity requirements.

Timber frame construction with high levels of fabric insulation.
